"Nec pluribus impar" is the motto of the kingdom of France in the 17th and 18th century, introduced by king Louis XIV. The "Sun King" decorated his crest accordingly, but also

the banners of the french army were adorned with "Nec pluribus impar". Directly translated the latin phrase means " Not unequal to many", the actual meaning could be interpreted best as "Not inferior to anybody". Another translation is "Superior to even a majority". It is not clear, if majority means in this context the multitude of smaller and greater german sovereigns or if ts about the whole European theater of powers.
One can find the phrase amongst others at the northside of the "German Gate" in Landau/Palatinate, which was at this time the border to Germany.

According to the bond to our homeland palatinate, center of the united Europe in the border region of Germany and France, as well as to our claim to take every challenge, we chose " Nec pluribus impar" as motto of our ambitious winery.
